Several days before Eid al-Fitr, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming visited Blok M accompanied by children from Putra Utama Children’s Social Care Facility (PSAA) on Monday, 16 March. The Vice President invited them to shop for new clothes to wear during Eid celebrations.

A total of 100 orphanage children enthusiastically joined the shopping trip to Blok M Plaza in South Jakarta. The Vice President allowed them to select their own clothes of choice.

In addition to clothing, the children were also free to choose shoes and bags to support their school activities.

“I’m very happy because I was taken on an outing. Being able to leave the orphanage felt really exciting, so I’m truly pleased,” said one of the orphanage children, Syifa Anisah, expressing her feelings.

Another participant, commonly known as Keiko, also expressed happiness at being able to choose her own clothing. She also conveyed her hope that similar activities in the future could help meet the educational needs of the orphanage children.

“We were able to buy things we’ve wanted for a long time,” said Keiko while displaying her purchases.

“We bought so much—clothing, headscarves. These are things we rarely get.”

The Vice President stated that the activity with orphanage children forms part of the government’s commitment to strengthening social protection and child empowerment, whilst promoting the realisation of welfare for Indonesia’s younger generation.
