Jakarta, Kompas.com - Member of DPR’s Commission IX, Asep Romy Romaya, urged companies to fulfill their responsibility to pay Eid allowances (THR) to their employees ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026/1447 H.

He noted that there are still practices where companies avoid their obligation to pay THR to their employees.

These practices range from laying off workers to terminating contracts before Eid, which should be suspected as a systematic effort to avoid responsibility.

Based on data from the Indonesian Ombudsman, there are 2,410 reports from workers who feel their rights have not been fulfilled by companies.

Many workers reported that companies did not pay the THR in accordance with the stipulated time and amount.

“This situation should not be allowed to continue. The state must be present in a real way, not just being responsive when the polemic emerges in the public sphere,” said Romy.

He emphasized that the Minister of Manpower’s Regulation No. 6 of 2016 concerning Religious Holiday Allowance (THR) for Workers/Labor in Companies stipulates that THR must be paid no later than H-7 before the religious holiday.

“If violations continue to occur from year to year, it means that something is not working in our supervision system. The government must ensure that workers’ rights are protected, and companies that violate the rules truly feel the consequences,” said Romy.
