Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) RI, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, has urged all parties to exercise restraint amid the rising escalation of war. This is especially important, he said, ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebration.

“All parties are asked to exercise restraint to maintain the unity of the Muslim ummah ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Because Eid al-Fitr is a major holiday that symbolises and marks the return of the ummah to their pure nature,” Sultan told reporters on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Sultan said, the Indonesian people are deeply concerned about the war events disrupting regional stability. Sultan urged all parties involved in the conflict to immediately halt hostilities.

Sultan also asked Indonesian society not to be easily influenced by issues related to the Iran-US and Israel war circulating on social media, including invalid information in the form of AI modifications. According to him, this only makes the situation more unconducive.

“I personally appreciate the stance of Muslim countries that do not worsen the situation by not carrying out retaliatory attacks,” he said.

Sultan also advised Indonesian society and Muslim countries to focus on worship in welcoming the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday.
