JAKARTA, Kompas.com - Indonesia’s Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has assured that subsidised fuel prices (BBM subsidi) will not rise until Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah / 2026 CE, despite the war involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

‘For subsidised BBM prices, I assure that up to Eid there will be no increase at all, even if oil prices rise because of the war between Israel, the United States and Iran,’ Bahlil said at the Istana Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (4 March 2026).

‘However, for non-subsidised BBM prices, the mechanism is market-based, and it follows the ministerial regulation (ESDM) of 2022,’ he added.

’Moreover, Bahlil also assured that BBM stocks are sufficient ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

‘Inshallah everything will be safe, including LPG. So there is no need for doubt, even though there are global dynamics in Iran and Israel,’ he said.

For reference, the conflict in the Middle East escalated after Iran was targeted by an Israeli and US strike on Saturday (28 February 2026) morning local time.

The strike occurred as nuclear talks in Geneva, Switzerland between the US and Iran stalled.

This has affected the closure of access routes through the Strait of Hormuz, the transit route for around 20 percent of the world’s oil supply.
