Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026, Bulog Lahat Ensures Rice Stocks Secure
Perum Bulog’s Lahat branch has confirmed that government rice reserves are sufficient to meet public demand ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026, with supplies expected to last several months beyond the religious holiday.
The measure is intended to ensure public food needs remain met, particularly during the pre-Ramadan period, which typically experiences a surge in demand for staple goods.
Denny Suryadi, head of Bulog Lahat branch, stated through accounting chief Mauzan Khairul that current rice stocks at the Manggul warehouse total 550 tonnes, comprising rice from the Food Price and Supply Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) and Government Rice Reserves (CBP).
“We are ensuring government rice stocks remain secure to meet community needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Currently, reserves have reached 550 tonnes,” Khairul said on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Beyond relying on existing stocks, Bulog continues to increase absorption of grain and rice from local farmers. This approach forms part of a strategy to strengthen national food security whilst maintaining stable grain prices at the farm level.
“We have two milling partners operating here, and we cooperate with them so that milled rice enters Bulog. For grain price, it stands at Rp6,500 per kilogramme,” Khairul explained.
Lahat Regency Government has emphasised that stable food stocks are crucial for keeping market prices under control, particularly ahead of major religious holidays such as Eid al-Fitr.
