Ahead of Eid al-Adha, West Jakarta KPKP Inspects Sacrificial Animals at Palmerah TPnHK
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Sub-Department of Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture (Sudin KPKP) of West Jakarta conducted an inspection of sacrificial animals at the Sacrificial Animal Holding Site (TPnHK) in the Kemanggisan area of Palmerah on Thursday.
The Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Section of Sudin KPKP West Jakarta, Tanti, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday, stated that the inspection covered the legality and physical condition of the sacrificial animals, as well as the suitability of the holding site.
“First, we check the completeness of documents, starting from the veterinary certificate, then the Animal Health Certificate (SKKH) from the origin area,” said Tanti.
Furthermore, she said, the physical condition of the animals was also examined, from age to mouth condition.
“If they are of sufficient age, we check their teeth. Have they grown permanent teeth or not? If they have, it means the sacrificial animal is suitable. Then, we provide health services to the sacrificial animals,” Tanti explained.
“For example, we check the distance of the TPnHK from settlements, how waste is disposed of, and importantly, the site must be shaded or have a roof for the animals,” Tanti added.
Meanwhile, the owner of the TPnHK in the area, Iwan Setiawan, welcomed the inspection activity carried out by Sudin KPKP West Jakarta officials.
According to him, the inspection helps increase buyer confidence in the quality of the sacrificial animals being sold.
“Especially since this inspection relates to the sacrificial requirements, whether the animals are of sufficient age and suitable. So, to assure potential buyers,” Iwan stated.
He also acknowledged that the inspection is necessary to ensure the animals sold to the public truly meet the sacrificial requirements.
“So, the arrival of KPKP and veterinarians here is to ensure the sacrificial requirements are met, whether the teeth have permanent ones or not, and so on. In essence, we support it,” Iwan concluded.
