Ahead of Eid al-Adha, Livestock Traders in Indramayu Report Increased Sales Compared to Last Year

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, INDRAMAYU – As Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri approaches, the sale of sacrificial animals in Indramayu Regency, West Java, is gaining momentum. Traders say that sales of sacrificial animals have increased slightly compared to the previous year.

Based on Republika’s observations, the surge in buyers of sacrificial animals can be seen at the stalls selling cattle and goats on Jalan Cimanuk Barat, Dermayu Village, Sindang District. Various types of cattle and goats of different sizes are available there.

The prices set by traders vary depending on the weight of each animal. For example, for cattle, traders sell them for between IDR 22 million and IDR 48 million per head. Meanwhile, goats are sold for between IDR 4.5 million and IDR 5.5 million per head.

Livestock trader, Nurjaya, said that so far the number of buyers has increased compared to the Eid al-Adha period last year. “Yes, there is a slight increase. Hopefully, as we get closer to Eid al-Adha, sales will increase even more,” said Nurjaya.

He added that consumers are currently leaving the sacrificial animals they have bought at his stall. This includes the most expensive cattle in his stall, which has already been sold to a consumer.

“This year, the types of cattle most sought after by consumers are metal and limousine breeds,” said Nurjaya.

Nurjaya said that he always tries to maintain the health of the sacrificial animals he sells. To this end, he regularly provides special care, starting from vitamins, antibiotics to nutritious feed to ensure that the health condition of the animals remains good until Eid al-Adha.

Not only that, but the cleanliness of the sacrificial animals, including their cages, is also always a priority. This is because dirt can cause disease if it is not cleaned.
