Ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH, Cianjur Regency Deploys Animal-Inspection Readiness Team
The Cianjur Regency Government, West Java, has officially formed and deployed an animal-inspection readiness team ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH. The step is designed to guarantee that all sacrificial animals circulating in the area meet health quality standards and halal requirements in accordance with Islamic law.
Regent Muhammad Wahyu Ferdian stressed the inspections are important so that the public does not worry about consuming the sacrificial meat. The team will be distributed evenly to strategic points across the entire Cianjur region.
“This is to ensure that the animals and meat meet quality and halal requirements,” Wahyu said after releasing the readiness team at the grounds of the Office of the Department of Animal Health and Veterinary and Fisheries (DPKHP) of Cianjur Regency, Tuesday (19/5).
Head of the DPKHP, Iwan Setiawan, explained that a total of 46 officers have been deployed. The personnel are divided into three main regional zones:
Iwan added that the oversight process is conducted comprehensively through two crucial stages. First is an ante-mortem inspection, namely physical checks and health assessment while the animals are still alive at the point of sale.
“The second is postmortem inspection, namely the examination of meat and internal organs after the sacrificial animal has been slaughtered. This is to ensure that the meat distributed to the public is truly fit for consumption,” Iwan said.
Data collection for sacrificial animals has in fact been carried out for about a month. However, with the approach of the festival, the DPKHP predicts the number of selling stalls will continue to increase, so supervision will be tightened to prevent the entry of sick animals into Cianjur.
Ramadan has become a moment for the Cianjur Regency Government to encourage civil servants to shop at local markets.
The regency government updates data on the extent of paddy fields as part of strengthening agricultural planning and to pursue this year’s rice production target.
This year, the PBB sector in Cianjur Regency is targeted at more than Rp60 billion. By the third quarter, cumulative achievement stood at 73.82%.
There are various programs already prepared which represent the local government’s strong commitment to building a better Cianjur.
