PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Division 4 Semarang in Central Java recorded 13,329 passengers using train services over the weekend ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 H, from 22 to 24 May 2026. This included 5,787 boardings and 7,542 alightings at Tegal Station.

The high figures indicate increased public mobility using rail transport for mudik, holidays, and other activities ahead of Eid al-Adha.

According to preliminary data as of 07:00 WIB on 24 May 2026, which may still change, passenger numbers for the period were as follows:

  • Friday, 22 May 2026: 4,668 passengers, comprising 2,213 boardings and 2,455 alightings

  • Saturday, 23 May 2026: 5,135 passengers, comprising 2,067 boardings and 3,068 alightings

  • Sunday, 24 May 2026: 3,526 passengers, comprising 1,507 boardings and 2,019 alightings

Head of Public Relations for KAI Division 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, stated that the weekend passenger movement trend reflects heightened public activity as people begin travelling ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 H.

“Passenger movement at the station has been consistently high for both departures and arrivals during the weekend. This reflects growing public confidence in rail transport for its safety, comfort, and punctuality,” Luqman said on Sunday (24 May 2026).

To accommodate passenger demand, KAI Division 4 Semarang operates 33 regular daily departures and 73 trains passing through the division area. Additionally, one extra train service has been deployed to support increased passenger volume.

Available seating capacity stands at 16,982 seats per day, optimised to meet travel needs during the weekend period.

Popular passenger destinations during this period include:

  1. Pasar Senen (Jakarta)

  2. Surabaya Pasar Turi

  3. Gambir (Jakarta)

  4. Solo Balapan

  5. Purwokerto

The preferred train services chosen by the public are:

  1. Kaligung

  2. Kamandaka

  3. Joglosemarkerto

  4. Menoreh

Alongside additional train services, KAI Division 4 Semarang has also optimised operations through capacity management and operational readiness to ensure smooth travel.

“We continue to ensure operational readiness across facilities, infrastructure, and services to guarantee safe, comfortable, and punctual train journeys, especially during heightened mobility periods ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 H,” Luqman added.

KAI advises the public to plan journeys carefully, book tickets via official channels, and adhere to departure schedules for smooth travel.

According to sales data up to Sunday (24 May), 18,902 tickets have been sold for travel between 27 and 31 May 2026.

All train passengers are strictly prohibited from wearing jerseys, scarves, or any items related to competing sports clubs.

Tickets for four Siantar Express train services, departing from both Medan and Siantar stations, have sold 1,451 copies.

Operations began with track monitoring from the locomotive cabin using the Ranggajati train on the Purwokerto–Kroya route, followed by the Lodaya train on the Kroya–Banjar route.
