Ahead of Central Java Provincial Sports Week, PLN Enhances Competency of Candirejo Tourism Managers
Candirejo Tourism Village, Central Java, is strengthening its readiness for managing tourist destinations ahead of the 2026 Central Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). This reinforcement is being carried out through the enhancement of manager competencies, particularly in aspects of safety, service, and tourist assistance.
This competency enhancement is conducted through the Candirejo Tourism Management Competency Improvement (PETIR) programme, which received support from PT PLN (Persero) Java, Madura, and Bali Load Dispatch Centre (UIP2B Jamali) via the Central Java and D.I. Yogyakarta Load Dispatch Implementation Unit (UP2B Jateng & DIY).
The programme targets the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) of Candirejo Tourism Village and was held at the Pesona Garda rafting destination. The training was provided to increase the managers’ ability to meet the expected rise in tourism needs ahead of various agendas in Central Java, including the Central Java Provincial Sports Week in October 2026.
General Manager of PLN UIP2B Jamali, Munawwar Furqan, stated that the readiness of a tourist destination is determined not only by its potential but also by the ability of human resources to provide safe and professional services.
“Strengthening the competence of managers is a vital part of ensuring that the tourism potential of Candirejo Village can develop sustainably. We hope this capacity building can support the quality and safety of tourism services while providing economic benefits to the surrounding community,” Munawwar said in a statement on Monday (31/8/2026).
Under the programme, the managers of the Pesona Garda tourist attraction received several training modules, including basic water safety training, tour guide training, General Occupational Health and Safety (K3) training, as well as training and certification for Rafting Guides, in collaboration with the Three S Academy Course and Training Institute (LKP).
Manager of PLN UP2B Jateng & DIY, Rachmat Hidayat, said that this competency enhancement is expected to strengthen the managers’ readiness to provide services to visitors, especially when tourism activities increase during the 2026 Central Java Provincial Sports Week.
“Safety and service quality are crucial in managing white-water rafting tourism. Through this training and certification, we hope that the managers will possess improved competencies, enabling them to provide a sense of security and a high-quality tourism experience for visitors,” Rachmat expressed.
The Chairman of the Candirejo Tourism Village Pokdarwis, Muhammad Zamroni, stated that the capacity building provides significant benefits to the community involved in managing the tourist destination.
“This programme is very beneficial for us, especially in increasing our understanding of tourism safety and service. With this training and certification, we are increasingly prepared to manage Pesona Garda rafting professionally and safely, including in welcoming the 2026 Central Java Provincial Sports Week,” said Zamroni.
Enhancing manager competency is one of the preparations for Candirejo Tourism Village to welcome participants and tourists during the 2026 Central Java Provincial Sports Week. In addition to safety, the improvement of human resource quality is expected to strengthen destination management and open economic opportunities for the community through the tourism sector.
