Secretary-General of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), Sugiono, sat together with secretaries-general of political parties that are members of the Merah Putih coalition to welcome the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. The meeting was held in the form of a dinner gathering.

The meeting was held as a moment of reflection on the journey of nearly two years of the Indonesian President’s administration. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, as well as secretaries-general from the Indonesia Maju coalition parties, both those seated in parliament and those outside parliament. However, no secretary-general from the PDI-P DPP was present at the meeting.

Sugiono explained that the meeting was a forum for silaturahmi. It was also a momentum to strengthen communication and ties among coalition political parties ahead of the commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

“This meeting is a silaturahmi that we had not had the opportunity to hold until now. We gathered in a family atmosphere to welcome the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia while reflecting on the coalition’s journey during nearly two years of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka,” said Sugiono in Jakarta on Thursday (14/8/2026) evening WIB.

The party secretaries-general who attended came from Golongan Karya, the National Awakening Party, the Democratic Party, the National Mandate Party, the Prosperous Justice Party, the NasDem Party, the Indonesian Solidarity Party, the Crescent Star Party, the Gelora Party, the Garuda Party, and the Just and Prosperous People’s Party. The Secretary-General of the United Development Party conveyed an apology for being unable to attend.

According to Sugiono, the presence of the secretaries-general from the Indonesia Maju coalition parties is a form of political communication that continues to be maintained in supporting the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and the Merah Putih Cabinet. Sugiono assessed that the commemoration of Independence Day must be a momentum to strengthen unity and the spirit of mutual cooperation.
