Ahead of 27 August Rally, Tasikmalaya Children of the Nation Alliance Supports Jakarta Remaining Safe

Hundreds of residents belonging to the Gerakan Pendukung Presiden Prabowo (GEMPAR), Gerakan Ajengan Muda (GAM), and the Asosiasi Pedagang Pasar Seluruh Indonesia (APPSI) have agreed to form the Aliansi Anak Bangsa Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, West Java. The alliance is urging the public to maintain unity, order, and democratic maturity.

Aliansi Anak Bangsa coordinator Farhan Abdul Azis said that ahead of the rally planned for 27 August in Jakarta, Tasikmalaya residents agreed to reject rioters who create chaos and disorder. The alliance is calling for public aspirations to be expressed through demonstrations without being infiltrated by irresponsible parties.

‘Ahead of the 27 August demonstration in Jakarta, we urge the public to maintain unity and order. We do not want to silence aspirations, but the demonstration must not be provoked by parties who want Indonesia to descend into chaos,’ he said on Tuesday (25/8).

According to Farhan, the Aliansi Anak Bangsa consists of traders, farmers, youth, religious figures, and young ajengan. The alliance wants peace and supports all government programmes planned by President Prabowo Subianto.

‘We do not want the rally in Jakarta to be exploited by groups that deviate from its substance. We urge the public not to be provoked by infiltrators who use demonstrations to divide national unity and integrity. We pray that the demonstration supporting the Asset Forfeiture Bill and the death penalty for corruptors proceeds smoothly and peacefully,’ he said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Gerakan Ajengan Muda (GAM) Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, Hadis Munawir, said he wants the demonstration not to divide the community. This is because there are reports circulating that the rally will oppose all government programmes. Residents in the regions will certainly support government programmes.

‘We must maintain unity and peace so that the demonstration is not hijacked and does not cause unrest. We oppose it because it can harm the public. Through this appeal, we support the asset forfeiture bill and the death penalty for corruption perpetrators,’ he stressed.

According to Hadis, his side rejects all forms of provocation that could pit the public against the government. For this reason, Jakarta, as the centre of national life, must remain safe, orderly, and conducive.

‘We continue to support the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme and encourage the strengthening of the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) as part of efforts to build self-reliance and economic strength in village communities. This people’s economic empowerment platform opens business opportunities by strengthening the local economy to provide real benefits,’ he concluded.
