Ahead of 2027 KUA-PPAS Deliberations, Sidkon Djampi Stresses Strengthened Support for Pesantren

Ahead of the deliberation on the General Budget Policy and Provisional Budget Ceiling Priorities (KUA-PPAS) for the 2027 Fiscal Year, a member of the West Java DPRD’s Commission I from the PKB faction, Sidkon Djampi, stressed the need for the regional government to support the strengthening of pesantren through adequate budget allocations. According to Sidkon, pesantren play a strategic role in building human resource quality, not only through religious education but also through character formation, morals, and national values. Therefore, the existence of pesantren must be continuously strengthened through sustainable policies. “Pesantren have become an important part of the education system in West Java. Government support must continue to be strengthened so that pesantren can improve the quality of education, infrastructure, and the empowerment of students,” Sidkon told Republika on Tuesday (14/7/2026). He assessed that the 2027 KUA-PPAS discussions are a momentum to ensure that programmes related to pesantren development remain a priority in the preparation of the regional budget. According to him, the allocated budget must provide real benefits for improving the quality of these religious educational institutions. Sidkon stated that attention to pesantren is also in line with the West Java Provincial Government’s commitment to strengthening character-based and competitive human resource development. Therefore, synergy between the regional government, DPRD, and all stakeholders must be maintained. “Strengthening pesantren is not only about physical development, but also improving the quality of education, the competence of teaching staff, and the economic empowerment of pesantren so they become more independent,” he asserted. He expressed hope that the 2027 KUA-PPAS deliberation process would produce budget policies that favour the education sector, including pesantren, thereby delivering a positive impact for the people of West Java. “The hope is that all programmes that are running well will continue and have their quality improved. Pesantren must become one of the main pillars in building a religious generation with character, ready to face future challenges,” said Sidkon.
