BEKASI – Traffic engineering measures, including contraflow and a one-way system, have been implemented on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road to alleviate the vehicle surge during the 2026 Lebaran mudik flow.

Jasa Marga Transjawa Tol (JTT) applied contraflow on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road from KM 36 to KM 70 in the direction towards Cikampek to Trans Java starting from Tuesday (17/3/2026) at 00:00 WIB.

“Additionally, we are also implementing one-way traffic engineering Phase I from KM 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road section to KM 263 on the Pejagan-Pemalang toll road section since yesterday at 15:18 WIB,” said Vice President Corporate Secretary and Legal JTT, Ria Marlinda Paallo, in a written statement on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

“This is part of the joint efforts between toll road operators and the Police to maintain the smooth mobility of the community during the mudik flow period,” she said.

Although traffic engineering has been implemented, severe congestion still occurs on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road during the peak mudik flow on Wednesday morning.

Congestion was even observed from KM 15, including access to the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) Elevated Road.

Several mudik travellers complained about travel times that were much longer than usual. The high volume of vehicles and incidents of accidents on the toll road further worsened the traffic conditions.

Ria advised road users to continue to obey traffic signs and follow the instructions of officers in the field.

In addition, mudik travellers are asked to prepare their journeys well, including ensuring sufficient e-money balances before entering the toll road.

She added that JTT, together with the Police and stakeholders, continues to monitor and evaluate to ensure that toll road services remain optimal during this year’s Lebaran mudik period.
