Agus Fatoni Appointed as Head of Baznas for 2026-2031 Term
JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Agus Fatoni, Director General of Local Government Finance (Keuda) at the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), as head of the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) for the 2026-2031 term.
This appointment is formalised in a Presidential Decree regarding the appointment of the head and members of Baznas for the 2026-2031 period, which was submitted by Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar to Agus Fatoni.
“This is a great mandate. We will continue to encourage transparency, accountability, and collaboration with various parties so that zakat management has an even greater impact on society,” Fatoni said in a press statement on Thursday (12 March 2026).
Fatoni emphasised his commitment to fulfilling this mandate by strengthening the institution’s governance and improving the effectiveness of zakat collection and distribution.
“Baznas plays a strategic role in poverty alleviation and community empowerment through the management of zakat, voluntary donations, and charitable contributions. Therefore, a figure with integrity and capacity in financial governance is required,” said Nasaruddin.
The Minister of Religious Affairs hopes the new leadership and members of Baznas will strengthen national zakat management in a more professional, transparent, and accountable manner.
The new Baznas leadership for the 2026–2031 period comprises representatives from both civil society and government.
The submission of this decree marks the beginning of the five-year tenure of the eleven new Baznas leaders.
