Agung Laksono Says La Ode Could Boost Golkar's Vote Share if Elected Kosgoro 1957 Chairman

The warm atmosphere of Eid al-Adha graced the residence of senior Golkar figure and Chairman of the Advisory Council of Kosgoro 1957, Agung Laksono, in Cipinang, East Jakarta, on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 afternoon. Senior Golkar figures and Kosgoro 1957 cadres gathered to discuss the organisation’s future ahead of the Fifth General Assembly (Mubes). Agung Laksono stated that the leadership regeneration within Kosgoro requires a figure who understands the organisation’s history, possesses a national network, and can bridge the spirit of cadre development with the need for organisational transformation in the present and future. ‘Kosgoro needs leadership that not only understands its history but can also guide the organisation to address contemporary challenges,’ Agung Laksono told journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Agung Laksono believes that La Ode’s election as Kosgoro 1957 chairman for the 2026-2031 term could boost Golkar’s electoral appeal. ‘I hope that if elected Kosgoro chairman, he can increase Golkar’s vote share in the 2029 general election,’ he added. The supportive atmosphere at Agung Laksono’s residence is seen as a signal of growing backing from Kosgoro elders and senior factions for La Ode Safiul Akbar. The presence of Golkar and Kosgoro figures during the Eid al-Adha gathering was also interpreted as a message stressing the importance of maintaining organisational unity ahead of the Mubes. Previously, La Ode Safiul Akbar declared his candidacy for Kosgoro 1957 chairman, stating he had received the blessing of Golkar party chairman Bahlil Lahadalia. He has proposed returning Kosgoro 1957 to its roots as a people-oriented organisation through strengthening grassroots economy, cadre development, and organisational expansion. Agung Laksono previously expressed support for La Ode, noting he is not a newcomer to Kosgoro. La Ode’s track record, he said, stems from internal cadre development processes, beginning with his role in the Kosgoro Youth Brigade.
