Jakarta - Agung Laksono, Chairman of the PPK Kosgoro 1957 Advisory Board, believes La Ode Safiul Akbar could enhance Golkar’s electoral prospects if elected as the organisation’s chairman for the 2026-2031 term. ‘I hope that if elected Kosgoro chairman, he will boost Golkar’s votes in the 2029 general election,’ Agung said in Jakarta on Wednesday. He noted that La Ode is not a newcomer within Kosgoro, with his background developed through internal cadre training in the organisation’s youth wing, Barisan Muda Kosgoro. ‘This is a leadership regeneration moment for Kosgoro, requiring a figure who understands the organisation’s history and has national networks,’ Agung added. Moreover, he said the Kosgoro 1957 chairman must bridge cadre development and organisational transformation needs, both present and future. ‘Kosgoro needs leadership that not only understands its history but can also guide the organisation to address contemporary challenges,’ Agung stated. Previously, La Ode Saiful Akbar declared his candidacy for PPK Kosgoro 1957 chairman at the organisation’s Fifth General Assembly (Mubes V) in June 2026, which will be held in Jakarta. The assembly is part of Golkar Party’s main organisational group, Kesatuan Organisasi Serbaguna Gotong Royong (Kosgoro 1957). La Ode confirmed he has the blessing of Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia to run for Kosgoro chairman. He proposes revitalising Kosgoro 1957’s original mission as a people-centric organisation through strengthening grassroots economy, cadre development, and organisational growth. As a business figure, La Ode believes a strong organisation must remain rooted in its foundational principles. ‘Roots provide strength and nourish the organisation’s growth, yielding benefits for members and the wider ecosystem,’ he said.
