Agum names new director general

JAKARTA (JP): The Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Agum Gumelar, on Wednesday installed Djamhari Sirat as the new Director General of Post and Telecommunications, replacing Sasmito Dirdjo.

Agum said that Djamhari has a difficult task ahead of him as the new director general in charge of resolving the disputes between state-owned PT Telkom and its joint cooperation scheme (KSO) partners.

He said that Djamhari should go on with the program outlined by his predecessor and actively coordinate with other ministries to formulate a cyber law and broadcasting law.

Agum also appointed Gunawan Ibrahim as the new chief of the Meteorological and Geophysics Agency replacing Sri Diharto.

Both Gunawan and Sasmito will soon end their active duty.

He appointed Yaddi Haryadi Abidin as head of the Air Communications Training Department, A. Moersantoso as administrator for Soekarno Hatta International Airport, and Wizar Bermawi as judge of the Maritime Court. (tnt)
