Agro-tourism center built in Ragunan

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration is currently building an
agro-tourism center in the Ragunan area, South Jakarta, in line
with the municipality's determination to maintain the southern
part of the city as a catchment location.

Head of City Agriculture Office Maharanto told reporters
yesterday that the agro-tourism center is designed to provide
green areas for Jakartans to relax and enjoy the view in the
city.

He said his office has prepared a 12-hectare plot of land for
fruit cultivation and another five-hectare plot for orchid
growing.

"The project is also designed to be a fruit and orchid
market," Maharanto said.

Currently, the office already has three fruit and orchid
centers in the city: Lebak Bulus, Kembangan, Ragunan and a flower
marketing center in Rawa Belong. (yns)
