Agrinas Palma to Recruit Over 20,000 Workers to Manage Palm Oil Assets

Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned enterprise PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) has announced it will recruit more than 20,000 workers to strengthen the management of palm oil plantation assets mandated by the government. President Director Mohammad Abdul Ghani stated that the workforce requirement consists of 1,844 management employees, approximately 9,500 foremen, and 11,000 harvesters. “We are recruiting 1,844 management staff, 9,500 foremen, and 11,000 harvesters. So, more than 20,000 people,” Abdul Ghani said during a hearing with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday. Agrinas Palma Nusantara is a state-owned enterprise mandated to manage plantation areas resulting from the Forest Area Task Force’s enforcement operations. According to Abdul Ghani, the company is currently finalising its organisational structure after receiving the assignment to manage the plantation assets. He noted that fulfilling human resource needs is a priority before productivity improvements can be implemented. The recruitment of management staff is targeted for completion by July 2026, while the hiring of foremen and harvesters will be finalised by August 2026 at the latest. “Agrinas is not conducting layoffs; on the contrary, we will recruit many workers because to increase productivity, we must ensure all crops are managed properly,” he said. He added that the company will prioritise local workers for foreman and harvester positions in each operational area. Abdul Ghani stated that the workforce expansion is expected to support increased plantation productivity. The company is targeting fresh fruit bunch production to rise steadily, reaching around 5 million tonnes by the end of the year, or 100 per cent of the 2026 Work Plan and Budget. Based on the company’s presentation, fresh fruit bunch production is projected to increase from 173,000 tonnes in March 2026 to 302,000 tonnes in June 2026, and is forecast to rise to around 549,000 tonnes in August 2026 and 678,000 tonnes in December 2026. Meanwhile, the mature plantation area is targeted to expand from 444,133 hectares at the beginning of the year to approximately 480,417 hectares by the end of 2026.
