Agrinas Denies Layoff Rumours, Plans to Hire 20,000 Workers Instead

PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara has denied rumours of layoffs. President Director Abdul Ghani stated that the company will instead recruit tens of thousands of workers to strengthen its operations. “This is important information: Agrinas is not conducting layoffs; on the contrary, we will be recruiting many workers,” he said during a meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission VI in Jakarta on Monday. Ghani explained that the company requires a significant number of workers to increase productivity and ensure the quality of the managed crops. Starting this month until August 2026, Agrinas is optimising its management structure and field workforce. Overall, Ghani said the company needs more than 20,000 workers, including management staff, foremen, and harvesters. “God willing, this July, all required personnel, including management staff, will be fulfilled. We are recruiting 1,844 management employees, 9,500 foremen, and 11,000 harvesters,” he clarified. Ghani added that the recruitment process will prioritise local communities, aiming to ensure residents in the area benefit from the company’s activities. “For foremen and harvest workers, we will prioritise people from the respective regions, not from outside,” he concluded.
