Agrinas Claims Imported Pick-up Trucks are Bio Solar Compatible
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara has confirmed that the imported pick-up trucks from India, which will be used for the operations of the Koperasi Merah Putih cooperative, are designed to be robust enough to handle various fuel conditions in Indonesia, including low-quality Bio Solar.
The Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, affirmed that the engine specifications were a primary consideration during procurement.
“The engine is diesel, and it meets Euro 4 standards. It has a double filter, so it can even handle bad fuel,” said Joao in Jakarta, Tuesday (24/2/2026).
The vehicle is equipped with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces up to 140 hp and 320 Nm of torque, delivered through a 6-speed manual transmission.
Another advantage is the drivetrain system. The Scorpio Pick-up is available in 2WD and 4WD modes, complete with a 4Low feature to assist when traversing difficult terrain or steep inclines.
In terms of carrying capacity, the pick-up can carry a load of up to 1.2 tons with a maximum towing capacity of 2.5 tons. MT (Mud Terrain) tyres are standard, further emphasising its orientation as a work vehicle in challenging conditions.
The design is also made more rugged with air vents above the engine hood, while comfort is still considered through a touchscreen infotainment system and a rear camera.
With the double filtration system, the risk of problems caused by fuel contamination can be reduced, while maintaining optimal engine performance even when using Bio Solar CN 48.
“And, as planned in the contract, especially with Mahindra, in addition to setting up workshops and dealerships, they have also agreed that they may be able to show later that by 2027 or until 2028, they must build a factory in Indonesia,” said Joao.
In addition to Mahindra, another Indian partner, Tata Motors, is also said to be building a production facility in Indonesia by 2029.
