Agrinas CEO on Rp1.8 Trillion Cooperative Fan Procurement: 'Let It Go Viral First, Then I'll Explain'

The President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, has yet to provide an explanation regarding the Rp1.8 trillion procurement of fans for the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives (KDMP). Joao requested that the issue be widely discussed first before he speaks out. “Ask about this, you publish it first so it goes viral. Once it’s viral, then I will explain. So it’s settled, if it’s now, it will just be fried,” Joao told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Joao said he would deliver an explanation if the fan procurement issue has gone viral and attracted public attention. According to him, the coverage could serve as a promotional opportunity to make the public more aware of Agrinas and the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives programme. “Yes, later, so it’s exciting. It’s very exciting, it’s fine. Let it go viral first, you publish it first. Let it be crowded, it’s a chance for me to get free promotion, right, you can promote me. It’s fine, you promote us for free, then we’ll explain so people know,” he stated. “The context is so it’s good, this becomes a question, later we will clear it up. So now you promote Agrinas first so people know about the cooperative, let people know, then once it peaks we’ll explain, once and for all,” he concluded. The issue regarding the procurement of fans worth Rp1.8 trillion for the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives programme had previously come under scrutiny. This was raised by House of Representatives Commission VI member from the PDI Perjuangan faction, Mufti Anam, during a working meeting with the Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. “Today the public is shocked by the issue of procuring 1.8 million fans worth Rp1.8 trillion. We have sought information about this issue but have received none from the government. The related parties also dare not answer. So on this occasion, I want to ask the minister, is it true that there is a procurement of 1.8 million fans with a budget of Rp1.8 trillion?” Mufti asked.
