Agrinas and Pertamina NRE Explore Renewable Energy Development Opportunities
PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) has established a partnership with PT Pertamina New and Renewable Energy (NRE) to explore various opportunities for developing new and renewable energy (EBT) that can support the national development agenda.
The President Director of PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero), Muhammad Abdul Ghani, stated that this cooperation is a strategic step for the company to optimise national bioenergy potential as part of the implementation of government mandates.
“This cooperation serves as a strategic step for Agrinas Palma Nusantara in optimising national bioenergy potential,” Abdul Ghani said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
“We believe that synergy between State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) will accelerate the realisation of a sustainable national bioenergy ecosystem and provide tangible benefits to the community,” he added.
Through this partnership, Agrinas Palma and Pertamina NRE will focus their collaborative exploration on developing renewable energy based on national resource potential.
The primary focus of the cooperation includes the reactivation of biodiesel plants (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester/FAME) and the construction of two bioethanol plant units using cassava as raw material, alongside various other mutually agreed renewable energy initiatives.
Regarding the reactivation of the biodiesel plant, Abdul Ghani noted that the target is to restore production capacity to 600,000 tonnes per year, thereby contributing significantly to meeting national biodiesel needs and strengthening the biofuel-based energy mix.
“The focus on reactivating biodiesel plants and developing cassava-based bioethanol is expected to create added value for agricultural commodities, strengthen energy security, and support the implementation of the government’s priority food self-sufficiency programme,” he said.
Meanwhile, the plan to build two bioethanol plant units, each with a capacity of 300 kilolitres per day (KLPD) or a total of 600 KLPD, is expected to increase the value of agricultural commodities, strengthen the national bioethanol supply, and support both food self-sufficiency programmes and the transition towards cleaner energy.
Agrinas Palma Nusantara and Pertamina NRE will conduct a series of assessments and feasibility studies to identify projects with development potential.
These studies will cover technical, market, economic, business, environmental, legal, and risk management aspects to ensure that every cooperation opportunity can be implemented optimally and provide sustainable benefits.
The collaboration between the two companies will also be strengthened through discussions on strategic, technical, and commercial aspects, including the exchange of knowledge, experience, and relevant technology in renewable energy development.
Furthermore, both parties will explore the utilisation of facilities, equipment, and materials to support effective and efficient project implementation.
