Agriculture Ministry strengthens governance to optimise livestock services

The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) is strengthening governance and integrity to optimise livestock and animal health services while ensuring strategic programmes are accountable, effective, and impactful for farmers. “We continue to strengthen clean, transparent, and accountable governance as the foundation for livestock and animal health development,” said Agung Suganda, Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, in a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Saturday. He stated that this step is taken to ensure every programme runs effectively, budgets are managed responsibly, and every service provides tangible benefits to farmers and the community. “In line with the direction of the Minister of Agriculture and Head of the National Food Agency, Andi Amran Sulaiman, all levels of the ministry continue to build a professional and integrity-based work culture,” he said. Agung further stated that strengthening governance is an important part of ensuring all livestock development programmes are on target and have a real impact on the community. “We continue to strengthen governance, supervision, and accountability across all work units,” Agung explained while accompanying Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono on a working visit in Denpasar, Bali, on Friday (10/7). He affirmed the commitment to ensuring every programme is implemented professionally, transparently, and oriented towards public service and improving the welfare of farmers. According to him, strengthening the Internal Control System (SPIP), risk management, service digitalisation, and human resource capacity building are continuously carried out to build an organisation that is increasingly professional, adaptive, and accountable. At the same time, various strategic programmes are being accelerated, ranging from increasing livestock productivity, providing superior breeds, strengthening animal health, developing forage feed, to investment and downstreaming of the livestock sector as part of efforts to strengthen national food security. He stated that public trust is the main asset, hence continuous improvements are being made to ensure better organisational governance and higher quality public services. “And that livestock and animal health development provides tangible benefits for the community,” he said. Separately, Secretary of the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health, Nuryani Zainuddin, ensured that all administrative functions, technical support, programme management, and coordination with Technical Implementation Units (UPT) in various regions continue to run optimally. “We are committed to ensuring all services to the community and farmers continue to run optimally so that the implementation of livestock development programmes is not disrupted,” said Nuryani. For the Ministry of Agriculture, integrity is manifested through quality service and development outcomes felt by the community. Therefore, various programmes to increase livestock production, animal health, provision of superior breeds, feed development, investment, and livestock downstreaming are consistently carried out to strengthen national food security and improve the welfare of farmers. Previously, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasised that there is no room for irregularities, corruption, or budget manipulation because every rupiah managed is a mandate from the people that must be accounted for and returned for the maximum benefit of farmers and livestock breeders.
