Magelang (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has issued a stern warning that he will revoke the permits of importers proven to have raised soybean prices unreasonably. “We have already asked importers not to raise prices arbitrarily. There is already an agreement in place. If I find any who raise prices unreasonably, harming the public who need soybeans, I will revoke their permits and not grant them for next year,” he said in Magelang on Thursday. He made this statement after inspecting a water pump in Banyu Urip Village, Tegalrejo Subdistrict, Magelang Regency, Central Java. He explained that the government is currently awaiting evidence of violations from the importers. “If there is a perpetrator, then I will revoke their permit,” he said. The government, he added, has coordinated with importers to maintain price stability and ensure supply remains available in the market. He also reminded all business actors to comply with the agreement made to protect the public’s purchasing power. The Ministry of Agriculture has emphasised that it will continue to monitor price movements in the field and will not hesitate to take firm action against parties proven to have committed violations.
