Agriculture Minister: Technical Guidelines for Egg Procurement at Rp26,500/kg for SPPG Issued
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has confirmed that technical guidelines requiring the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to absorb eggs at the government purchase price (HPP) of Rp26,500 per kilogram at producer level have been issued after being signed, and will take effect nationwide immediately.
“I have signed it, the technical guidelines have been issued,” said the Minister when confirmed on the sidelines of the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) regarding the fulfilment of women’s rights and the elimination of discrimination and violence in Jakarta on Thursday.
Amran said the technical guidelines were signed and immediately issued following protests from chicken farmers belonging to farmer associations over the sharp decline in egg prices at producer level.
According to Amran, the technical guidelines were sent directly to the Chairman of the Prosperous Poultry Farmers Cooperative (KPUS), Suwardi, after being signed, so that implementation can be carried out immediately by all SPPG units in various regions.
Amran stressed that the absorption policy is directed at helping farmers while ensuring that egg purchases are made directly from farmers to SPPG without going through long distribution chains that could potentially affect prices at farmer level.
In addition to egg absorption, the government is also reducing production cost pressures through the distribution of 242 thousand tonnes of maize under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) programme until December 2026, for animal feed.
Nevertheless, the government is open to increasing supply through the state logistics agency Perum Bulog should farmers’ needs rise again.
Amran also warned feed importers not to manipulate prices or commit violations. If any are found, his ministry will immediately revoke their business licences and refer the matter to the police.
“Importers must not play games. I will revoke their licences if they cheat. If there is a criminal element, we will send them to the police. We have previously sent cases to the National Police Headquarters for investigation. No cheating is allowed,” he said.
The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared technical guidelines for egg absorption by all Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) at a price of Rp26,500 per kilogram to strengthen price stabilisation and protect smallholder farmers.
Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Suganda, said the policy was prepared in accordance with the direct instruction of the Agriculture Minister and Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Andi Amran Sulaiman, for the sake of price stability of chicken eggs at producer level.
“In essence, SPPG must absorb eggs from surrounding farms at a price in accordance with the government purchase price (HPP), namely Rp26,500 per kilogram,” said Agung when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday (5/8).
