With the surplus condition enabling market expansion without disrupting domestic needs, Jakarta (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the value of poultry exports reached Rp18.2 billion up to March 2026, serving as proof of the national production surplus while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s livestock commodities in the global market.

“In March 2026, Indonesia exported 545 tons of poultry products worth Rp18.2 billion to destination countries such as Singapore, Japan, and Timor Leste,” said the Minister in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

The exports were dominated by 517 tons of consumption eggs, or around 8.13 million units, while the remainder consisted of chicken meat and value-added processed products.

Amran stated that the poultry export performance shows a consistent increasing trend, with 2024 realisations at around 300 tons worth approximately Rp11 billion.

In 2025, exports increased to around 400 tons with a value of Rp13 to Rp15 billion, while up to March 2026 it reached 545 tons with a value of Rp18.2 billion.

Amran emphasised that this achievement is the fruit of successful self-sufficiency in animal protein.

“Now we are self-sufficient in eggs, chicken, rice, and so on. We are pushing exports to other countries,” he said.

Not only in terms of volume, transformation is also evident in the export structure, which is beginning to shift to processed products such as nuggets and karaage. This drives an increase in added value while strengthening the competitiveness of the national poultry industry.

The export performance is supported by strong national production. Indonesia currently records broiler chicken meat production of 4.29 million tons with annual consumption of 4.12 million tons. For broiler chicken egg production, it is 6.54 million tons with annual consumption of 6.47 million tons.

The Ministry of Agriculture is also continuously strengthening animal health systems, biosecurity, and veterinary certification to ensure all products meet international standards. Trade diplomacy and the opening of new market access are also continuously pursued to expand export reach.

In the future, added Amran, the Ministry of Agriculture targets increasing chicken and egg exports, both in terms of volume and value, through product downstreaming and strengthening the processing industry.

This step also maintains price stability at the farmer level and strengthens Indonesia’s position in the global supply chain.

“With the consistent growth trend, Indonesia is now not only self-sufficient but beginning to assert itself as a reckoned poultry exporter in the world market,” said Amran.
