Availability and stability of staple food supplies for the public ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah is secure and well controlled.

Jakarta – Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has confirmed that strategic staple commodity stocks nationally are secure and surplus ahead of Eid 1447 Hijriah, with adequate production and reserves to maintain stable food supply and pricing.

“Availability and stability of staple commodities for the public ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H is secure and controlled, both nationally and at the regional level,” said Amran, as stated in Jakarta on Monday.

He noted that based on Food Balance data and Production Projections through April 2026, the majority of strategic commodities are in surplus position.

Current national rice stocks stand at approximately 3.5 million tonnes and are projected to continue increasing with the main harvest season and production trends rising approximately 15 per cent through March.

“If this trend persists until the end of the month, our stocks will almost certainly breach 6 million tonnes. This has never happened since independence. If consistent through year-end, potential surplus is estimated to reach approximately 9 million tonnes,” said Amran.

He confirmed that commodity stocks nationally are in surplus condition and strongly maintain supply stability and pricing in the community.

Other commodities such as maize also demonstrate positive performance, with availability of 10.751 million tonnes, whilst demand is 5.899 million tonnes, yielding a surplus of 4.852 million tonnes.

Consumption sugar is recorded at a surplus of 595,000 tonnes, large chillies at 74,000 tonnes surplus, and bird’s eye chillies at 105,000 tonnes surplus.

“God willing, ahead of Eid 2026 staple food needs are secure. Rice, maize, consumption sugar are sufficient; the public need not worry,” he emphasised.

Beyond this, several commodities have even entered export category. Cooking oil records a surplus of 3.556 million tonnes, chicken meat surplus of 728,000 tonnes, chicken eggs surplus of 349,000 tonnes, and shallots surplus of 57,000 tonnes.

“Our cooking oil is in large surplus, chicken and eggs are also more than sufficient. This is evidence that domestic production is strong and capable of supporting national needs, even for export,” he said.

The Agriculture Minister added that the government continues to monitor production, distribution, and strengthen stocks across all regions, particularly ahead of the momentum of increased consumption during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

“We oversee our farmers, extension workers in the field have been deployed. We monitor this daily. So, stocks exist, production is running, we oversee distribution. Our target is simple: a calm Eid, stable prices, people smiling,” said Amran.

Jakarta, as the consumption centre and barometer of national pricing, also demonstrates that strategic food supplies are in secure condition.

Synergy between central and regional government demonstrates readiness to welcome Eid al-Fitr 2026 with strong supply conditions, maintained distribution, and stable pricing.

The government is optimistic that the Ramadan and Eid season this year can be navigated calmly, without supply disruptions or price increases that cause public concern.
