Agriculture Minister: CPO Exports Strengthen, Indonesia Solidifies Position as World's Palm Oil King

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister and Head of the National Food Agency Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that Indonesia’s crude palm oil (CPO) exports have strengthened, thereby solidifying the country’s position as the world’s palm oil king, supported by increased domestic production.

“If we process our CPO into margarine, cosmetics, and other derivative products, the world will be highly dependent on Indonesia. We control more than 60% of the global market. This means Indonesia is highly influential,” said the Agriculture Minister in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

According to him, the performance of CPO and its derivative products exports once again confirms Indonesia’s strength as a major global player.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) records that the value of CPO and its derivatives exports in January-February 2026 reached $4.69 billion, jumping 26.40% compared to the same period the previous year at $3.71 billion.

This increase indicates that global demand for Indonesian palm-based products remains very strong, while also reinforcing the competitiveness of this commodity in the international market.

He also stated that based on an official statement from the Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (GAPKI) on 13 March 2026, Indonesia’s CPO production throughout 2025 reached 51.66 million tons, an increase of 7.26% (up by around 3.5 million tons) compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, total CPO and PKO (palm kernel oil) production was recorded at 56.55 million tons, up 7.18%.
