Jakarta — The Agriculture Minister, Andi Amran Sulaiman, has called on all personnel within his ministry to strengthen performance, maintain cohesion, and increase collaboration to advance the national agriculture sector and address various food security challenges.

“The successes we have achieved today are not due to one person, but because of the hard work of all of us. Without a strong team and without good collaboration, these achievements would not have been possible,” the Minister said during a coordination meeting and joint iftar with the Agriculture Ministry’s personnel in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to Amran, the various agriculture sector achievements secured within a relatively short timeframe represent the collective effort of all Agriculture Ministry personnel and support from many stakeholders. He therefore called on all elements to remain unified amid various developments.

He also noted that over approximately one year, various strategic agriculture programmes have demonstrated significant results, ranging from increased production and achievement of food self-sufficiency, particularly in rice, to strengthened exports of agricultural commodities.

The agriculture and plantation sectors have achieved self-sufficiency in nine commodities over the past year, including rice, consumption sugar, large chillies, bird’s eye chillies, maize, cooking oil, chicken meat, chicken eggs, and shallots.

The Minister also reminded that amid global developments, including geopolitical shifts and fluctuations in world food markets, Indonesia’s agriculture sector must remain strong and capable of maintaining national food security.

“In the current globally challenging situation, we must remain unified. Our focus is to work for farmers and for the interests of the nation,” he emphasised.
