Agriculture Minister Asks BGN to Serve Chicken and Egg Meals Three Times a Week in Free Nutritious Meals Programme

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has requested that the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) serve chicken and egg menus up to three times a week through the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. The initiative is a government response to the recent decline in chicken and egg prices at the farm level, intended to boost consumption and stabilise the market. Amran stated that he had directly contacted the Head of BGN to propose increasing the frequency of egg and chicken dishes from once to three times weekly, and that the agency agreed to the plan. He expressed hope that the policy would help prices gradually recover. The Ministry of Agriculture has also convened meetings with poultry and egg farmers to discuss various solutions to the pricing challenges, aiming to safeguard farmer welfare amid market fluctuations.
