Agriculture Minister Amran: Try Sutrisno Dedicated Greatly to Nation and State
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Agriculture Minister (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman has remembered the figure of the sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (Wapres) Try Sutrisno as someone who dedicated himself greatly to the nation and state.
“The late General Try was not only a military figure and statesman, but also a role model who possessed high dedication to the nation and state,” said Amran in a statement issued in Jakarta on Monday.
Amran conveyed his deep condolences over the passing of the sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno, who passed away on Monday, 2 March 2026 at Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital, Jakarta.
He assessed that the late figure’s leadership and exemplary conduct served as inspiration for many generations, including himself personally.
General Try Sutrisno, who previously served as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia alongside President Suharto during the period 1993–1998, is widely known as a figure of firmness, integrity, and strong commitment to the integrity of the Indonesian nation and state (NKRI) as well as national development.
“A figure who was highly influential both nationally and internationally,” he said.
Amran hopes that the values of struggle, integrity, and spirit of dedication bequeathed by the late figure can continue to be carried forward by the next generation of the nation.
