Agriculture Minister Amran Ready to Present IPB Feed Innovation to the President if Target is Achieved

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Agriculture Minister (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman has stated that he is prepared to bring the feed innovation from researchers at the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) to President Prabowo Subianto if the results achieve the target.

Amran made this statement during his visit to the IPB Science Technopark in Bogor, West Java, on Thursday (9/4/2026).

He highlighted developments in superior chickens based on research up to accelerating the growth of local chickens.

“If local chickens can be accelerated, for example, reaching one kilogram in 30-40 days, that would be extraordinary. This is what we must pursue,” said Amran in his official statement on Saturday (11/4/2026).

“If it can achieve the target, I am ready to bring it to the President; we will buy it. Do not doubt it. This is a big opportunity,” Amran added.

One innovation that caught Amran’s attention is the development of chicken feed based on probiotics and antitoxins.

The feed, created by IPB researcher Ivan Taufik Nugraha, is designed to be more efficient, improve health, accelerate chicken growth, and boost production volume.

“The feed is not too much; one can improve digestive health,” said Ivan.

“Usually, egg weight can increase by 20 to 30 percent,” Ivan stated.

Not only that, the feed is also designed to prevent diseases in chickens by making the feed act as an antitoxin simultaneously.

In chicken farming, he said, one of the problems faced by farmers is the attack of coccidiosis disease.

“Coccidiosis causes severe diarrhoea and can lead to quite high mortality, as well as spread within one coop. With this antitoxin, chicken health can improve,” Ivan explained.
