Agriculture Minister Amran Prepares Measures to Protect Egg Prices and Smallholder Farmers
Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that he has prepared several measures to protect the price of eggs and smallholder farmers. He emphasised that the price of chicken eggs from smallholder farms must be safeguarded. To this end, he said, his ministry is working to optimise the role of state-owned enterprises (BUMN), specifically the food holding company ID FOOD, to absorb the produce of smallholder poultry farmers. Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture is coordinating with the Ministry of Trade to set a reference purchase price for eggs at the farmer level. This aims to prevent prices from falling too low and harming breeders, while also ensuring the stability of the national egg supply.
