Agriculture Minister: 2 kg SPHP Rice Packaging in Design Stage

Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the 2 kilogram (kg) packaging for rice under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) is currently in the design stage before being distributed en masse to the public. Met on the sidelines of inspecting the Bulog Panaikang Warehouse accompanied by Acting Deputy Director of Perum Bulog Marga Taufiq in Makassar on Sunday, Amran said that SPHP rice has actually begun to be distributed to the public in 5 kg packaging, while smaller packaging is being prepared as an adjustment to real needs in the field. “SPHP rice (5 kg packaging) is already being distributed now. The smaller packaged rice (2 kg) is being designed, it will be quick,” said the Agriculture Minister. According to him, once the 2 kg packaging design is complete, the approval process will be carried out immediately without delay, and he even emphasised his readiness to sign it on the same day to accelerate distribution. He also stressed that the policy is part of the government’s commitment to serving the public, in line with the President’s instructions that every need of the people can be responded to quickly and on target. Regarding the price, the Agriculture Minister assured that the 2 kg SPHP rice will still be sold at a maximum price of Rp12,500 per kilogram, thus remaining affordable for the wider community without any price difference. He also assured that the government’s rice reserve stock (CBP) is currently in a safe condition to supply the SPHP programme throughout 2026.
