Public Policy and Political Economy analyst Faisal Lohy has urged the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) to seriously investigate the money laundering crime (TPPU) implicating former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (JAM-Pidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. Faisal assessed that there are allegations Febrie has links to corruption in the mining sector dating back to 2022. Faisal revealed that based on his study, there are a number of names and mining companies allegedly close to Febrie that need further investigation by prosecutors. “Examining a number of names allegedly close to the former Jampidsus, as well as investigating the money laundering crime, is important for investigators to do in order to uncover this case,” Faisal said during a public discussion titled “Uncovering TPPU and Alleged Intellectual Actors Behind the Ex-Jampidsus Case” held by the Millennial Activist Network (JAM) in Central Jakarta on Friday (24/7/2026). Faisal assessed that the investigation into this case also needs to target Febrie’s role when he served as Chair of the Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH). Investigators were urged to delve into the link between the structural authority Febrie held in the task force and the alleged criminal acts that occurred. In addition to the predicate crime, investigating the TPPU case is deemed urgent to trace the flow of funds, movement of assets, and the beneficial owners. “The public hopes that all developing allegations can be thoroughly investigated, including if they lead to intellectual actors or alleged TPPU. Law enforcement must be carried out professionally regardless of position,” he said. To maintain independence and avoid conflicts of interest, Faisal encouraged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to take over the handling of this case in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK. He also expressed hope that President Prabowo Subianto would give full attention to the handling of this case to safeguard a commitment to transparent and non-discriminatory corruption eradication. Previously, the Attorney General’s Office detained Febrie Adriansyah after he was examined as a suspect in the alleged TPPU case. After being examined as a suspect on Friday (24/7) evening, Febrie was then detained for 20 days at the KPK Detention Centre. After undergoing examination, Febrie exited through the lobby of the AGO Main Building. Febrie was seen not wearing a detainee vest and his hands were not handcuffed. However, he was closely guarded as he was about to enter the detention vehicle. Junior Attorney General for Supervision, Rudi Margono, explained the reason Febrie was not wearing a detainee vest. “Yes, regarding the vest, I apologise because it was rushed and it was already night,” Rudi told reporters in Jakarta, Friday (24/7/2026). Rudi explained that Febrie’s placement in the KPK Detention Centre was based on security considerations and a form of synergy between law enforcement agencies. According to Rudi, Febrie’s track record of having handled many large-scale corruption cases was one of the main reasons behind the decision to detain him at the KPK facility. “We consider it necessary for his protection as well, for the sake of accountability and transparency, and we synergise with the KPK. Because he has handled many big cases, that is one of the considerations why he is detained there,” said Rudi. Rudi stated that the detention would support the smooth process of the investigation being conducted by Team 9, which was specially formed to investigate this case. He also requested all parties, including the mass media, to respect the ongoing legal process by upholding the principle of presumption of innocence. “As a form of accountability, we must build a legal civilisation that respects each other, especially in the investigation process where the presumption of innocence still applies. Hopefully, going forward, Team 9 will carry out its duties as well as possible,” he stressed.
