AGO Urged to Maintain Transparency in Febrie Adriansyah Case to Preserve Public Trust
The alleged corruption and money laundering case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, is considered a major test for the integrity of the Attorney General’s Office. This was conveyed by the Indonesian Law Student Alliance for Justice while highlighting the handling of corruption, which is deemed an extraordinary crime. Corruption is considered not only detrimental to state finances but also robs the people of their rights, hinders development, and erodes trust in state institutions. Abdul Adzim, field coordinator of the Indonesian Law Student Alliance for Justice, stated that the public is currently waiting for proof that law enforcement in Indonesia is truly fair and impartial. According to him, if ordinary citizens are processed quickly, there should be no special treatment for Febrie Adriansyah. “The principle of equality before the law must be real, not just a slogan,” Adzim said in a statement on Tuesday. Adzim emphasised the need for an emergency call against corruption and for reform within the Attorney General’s Office. His group urged the Adhyaksa Corps to take firm action without intervention from any party. “We urge the AGO to immediately examine and detain Febrie Adriansyah on suspicion of corruption and money laundering. There must be no protection from any party, including the Attorney General, in order to maintain public trust,” he said. Furthermore, Adzim stated that anyone involved, regardless of their former position, must be processed legally. He called on all elements of society to jointly oversee the handling of this case. “We also ask that the powers that be do not intervene in the slightest so that this process runs cleanly and transparently,” he concluded.
