AGO to Investigate Information on Other Bunkers and Safes Belonging to Febrie Adriansyah
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has stated that it will look further into information regarding the existence of a bunker and other safes belonging to Febrie Adriansyah, the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes.
This was conveyed by the Head of Kejagung’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, in response to a statement by Commission III of the House of Representatives concerning the possible existence of other bunkers and safes owned by Febrie.
“So that is why we are tracing it. We are not acting on opinion but are looking first at the interests of the investigation. If the investigators believe there are things we need to add, we will certainly do them,” he told journalists, as quoted on Tuesday (14 July).
Previously, the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) officially transferred the handling of three cases of alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) to the Attorney General’s Office.
The transfer was carried out after investigators named two suspects: Don Ritto, a private party, and Febrie Adriansyah, the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes.
Based on their roles, Don Ritto is suspected of having committed money laundering stemming from corruption.
Meanwhile, Febrie is suspected of involvement in alleged corruption and/or money laundering in the legal handling of state officials in the PT Asabri case and other alleged corruption cases.
Kejagung stated that it will form a special team to handle Febrie’s case. Anang said the team is being formed to minimise conflicts of interest in handling the case.
“The Acting Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes will form a team of investigators at the Attorney General’s Office consisting of designated individuals. It will later be specific people who minimise any conflict of interest with the person concerned,” he said.
Kejagung claims that the entire process of handling the case implicating Febrie will be conducted transparently and professionally. Kejagung will also involve the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to provide supervision in the case.
“To guarantee independence and professionalism, we assure you we will be professional, and we will also involve supervision from the KPK,” he said.
