AGO to Examine Sony Sonjaya on Thursday, Delving into Justice Collaborator Request in MBG Case

A suspect in the alleged corruption case of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme, Sony Sonjaya, is scheduled to undergo examination by investigators from the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) on Thursday (18/6). The examination is being conducted as a follow-up to the request for justice collaborator (JC) status submitted by Sony in the case. Sony’s legal counsel, Krisna Murti, confirmed the examination schedule set by investigators. “There is an examination schedule on Thursday,” Krisna told reporters on Tuesday (16/6/2026). However, Krisna admitted he had not yet received detailed information regarding the location of the examination. According to him, investigators have not yet stated whether his client will be examined in the AGO examination room or at the detention centre where Sony is currently being held. “Whether in the investigator’s room or at the detention centre,” he said. When asked about the possibility that the examination would also delve into several names previously mentioned by Sony, Krisna said he had not received an explanation from investigators. However, he estimated that this could be part of the examination material. “It seems so. But it was not explained,” he said. Previously, the AGO confirmed it would examine Sony this week to follow up on the justice collaborator request that had been submitted. Investigators are currently still studying the application documents before making a decision regarding the eligibility of JC status for Sony. The Head of the AGO’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, said the process of applying for justice collaborator status must go through a review stage by investigators. “Just wait for the date later,” Anang said at the AGO Round Building, Jakarta, on Friday (12/6/2026). Anang explained that after the application is submitted, investigators will assess whether the applicant meets the requirements to obtain status as a justice collaborator. “That is a JC application, the mechanism is to submit it first to the investigator. Later the investigator will assess whether he is indeed eligible to obtain it,” Anang said. In the alleged corruption case of the MBG Programme, Sony has been named a suspect along with former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana and former BGN Deputy Head Lodewyk Pusung. The three are suspected of being involved in arranging the appointment of partner foundations for the Nutritional Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in the implementation of the programme.
