The Attorney General’s Office has discovered the alleged involvement of an active TNI soldier in the corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for the 2025–2026 period.

Director of Investigation for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated in Jakarta on Thursday (2/7) that the TNI member, identified by the initials BU, serves as the Secretary of the Deputy for Provision and Distribution at the BGN.

“We have found the involvement of an active TNI official here, serving as the Secretary of the Deputy for Provision and Distribution of the BML and also as the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) in the procurement of goods and services, particularly the procurement of motorcycles,” he said.

He revealed that BU is a TNI member with the rank of Colonel. BU’s alleged involvement as the PPK in this case was uncovered during the investigation into the procurement of electric motorcycles, which served as the corruption modus operandi.

“As the PPK, there was involvement in manipulating aspects such as price inflation and directing the selection of providers; these actions were carried out by the PPK and the providers, whom we have already detained,” he added.

Currently, BU’s status is that of a witness. Because BU is an active member of the TNI, Syarief stated that investigators at Jampidsus cannot process the individual independently. Therefore, the handling will be conducted through a connectivity mechanism involving investigators from the Junior Attorney General for Military Crimes (Jampidmil).

“It is not because of the nature of the act being military, but rather his status as a military member, which necessitates a connectivity investigation. For us, it will be handled by the Jampidmil,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Director of Enforcement at Jampidmil, Brigadier General TNI Andi Suci, stated that BU is a member of the TNI’s Equipment Corps (Cpl). After receiving the case transfer from the special crimes division, he noted that Jampidmil investigators will soon examine BU.

“In the investigation by the special crimes division, he has been examined as a witness. However, because the mechanism involves connectivity, we will re-examine BU as a witness in the connectivity investigation, as this requires examination by both military police and the military prosecutor,” he said.

To date, seven individuals have been named suspects in the MBG programme management corruption case, including former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana; former Deputy Head of BGN for Organisational Development and Institutional Relations Lodewyk Pusung; former Deputy Head of BGN for Operational Nutrition Fulfilment Sony Sonjaya; Asep Yusuf Soemantri representing the private sector; Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal Andri Mulyono; Glory Harimas Sihombing representing the private sector; and LMI, the Secretary of the Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation at the BGN.
