AGO Studies Justice Collaborator Request from MBG Corruption Suspect Sony Sonjaya
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has stated it is studying the request for justice collaborator (JC) status submitted by a suspect in the alleged corruption case concerning the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, Sony Sonjaya, while matching the request with evidence obtained by investigators.
The Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, said the JC application letter from Sony had been received by investigators and is currently under review.
“The letter has been received and is being studied,” Syarief said via a short message to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, there is no specific deadline for investigators to decide on the request. Investigators will still examine a number of aspects, including matching the information provided by the applicant with the evidence gathered during the investigation process.
“There is none, we study it first and then check the evidence obtained and so on,” Syarief stated.
This statement marks the latest development in the investigation of the alleged corruption case in the management of the MBG Programme at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for the 2025-2026 period, which has ensnared Sony Sonjaya along with two other former BGN officials as suspects.
Previously, Sony’s legal counsel, Krisna Murti, revealed that his client expressed his wish to become a justice collaborator while undergoing examination at the AGO on 4 June 2026.
According to him, Sony wants to reveal parties suspected of being involved in the case while explaining his position in the matter being investigated.
“Last night it was recorded in the examination report that Mr Sony will become a justice collaborator,” Krisna said.
He explained the request was filed because his client wishes to provide complete information regarding parties suspected of having a role in the case.
In this case, investigators have named Sony Sonjaya along with former BGN officials Dadan Hindayana and Lodewyk Pusung as suspects. The three are suspected of unlawfully appointing affiliated foundations as partners of the Nutritional Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) and conducting procurement of goods and services not in accordance with regulations.
Investigators also suspect irregularities occurred in the distribution of SPPG operational incentives provided by BGN amounting to IDR 6 million per day. The three suspects are currently undergoing detention for 20 days for the purpose of investigation.
