AGO Still Reviewing Justice Collaborator Request from Sony Sonjaya in Free Nutritious Meals Case

The Indonesian Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is still reviewing the justice collaborator (JC) application submitted by former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, in the corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme for 2025-2026. The AGO stated there are three considerations in determining the JC application. “There are three points. First, we look at the existing evidence. Is his testimony still needed? Second, to what extent can he maximise his capacity as a JC? This still requires time; we will decide shortly,” said the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, at the AGO’s BPA office in South Jakarta on Monday (15/6/2026). Febrie admitted he does not yet know the exact number of individuals named by Sony. He stated that the names mentioned by Sony are certainly linked to the five suspects already designated in this case. “I don’t know the exact number of names yet. But surely there will be connections to these suspects. We will look at the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG). What is clear is that the actions involved trading points and procuring goods. The procurement of goods is extensive, not to mention the distribution of points, which certainly involved several people,” he said. Febrie stated that investigators are currently focusing on the five suspects in this case to bring them to trial promptly. He wants the BGN to operate according to its original plan in implementing the MBG programme. “Right now, investigators are really concentrating on those who have been detained so we can prosecute them soon,” he said. Previously, the AGO had named five suspects in the MBG management case for 2025-2026. The suspects include former top officials of the National Nutrition Agency and a boss of a company supplying electric motors to the BGN. The list of suspects is: 1. Former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana; 2. Former BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya; 3. Former BGN Deputy Head Lodewyk Pusung; 4. Asep Yusuf Somantri (AYS), a close associate of Sony; 5. Andri Mulyono (AM), Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (PT YAT). The AGO suspects irregularities in the management of the MBG programme, including alleged affiliations between the suspects and foundations managing the SPPG, as well as suspected mark-ups in the procurement of electric motors, electric scooters, shoes, tablets, and televisions.
