A joint task force conducted searches, seizures, and sealing of evidence from 11 to 16 June in a case concerning the governance of mining business permits (IUP) at PT QSS, naming SDT alias Aseng as a suspect, according to the Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, in Jakarta on Tuesday. Seized assets include a Lamborghini Aventador luxury car, Toyota Fortuner and Camry vehicles, excavators, dump trucks, and plots of land. The seizures took place in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, and movable assets will be transferred to Jakarta. “We are gathering them. They will be brought to Jakarta later. God willing, they will arrive this week,” he said, adding that the value of the seized assets is still being calculated.

SDT is one of five suspects in the alleged corruption case involving irregularities in the governance of PT QSS’s mining business permit in West Kalimantan from 2017 to 2025. In 2018, PT QSS did not actually meet the requirements to obtain an Operation Production IUP because it lacked a valid due diligence process and used false data. Despite this, the company was granted the Operation Production IUP and a Work Plan and Budget covering an area of 4,084 hectares. This contravenes Article 34 paragraph (4) of Government Regulation Number 23 of 2010, which stipulates that an Operation Production IUP is granted to parties fulfilling administrative, technical, and other requirements.

Furthermore, after obtaining the permit, suspect SDT did not conduct mining activities within the IUP area. Instead, he continued to unlawfully sell bauxite sourced from outside the IUP area using PT QSS documents. The bauxite production was sold from 2020 to 2024 using export approvals issued without proper verification processes, in collaboration with state officials. Additionally, PT QSS did not possess a smelter, which is a prerequisite for obtaining an export permit.
