AGO Says Prosecuting Dadan Hindayana et al. Aims to Save the Original Objectives of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme

Amid the intensive investigation into alleged corruption within the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Programme, which has implicated several former officials of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has asserted that there is a greater objective beyond simply pursuing perpetrators and calculating state losses. For investigators, the case currently ensnaring former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana and several other parties also concerns the fate of a programme originally designed to meet the nutritional needs of millions of Indonesian children. The Adhyaksa Corps therefore considers exposing the alleged corruption within the BGN a crucial step to ensure the MBG programme’s implementation does not deviate from the original objectives designed by the government. Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah said his office wants to ensure the programme continues to run as intended despite currently being hit by a legal case. “We want the BGN to run according to the initial plan. The initial plan is for the children, so that our children are nourished, they are well, their stomachs are filled when at school, so they can receive a good education,” he said on Monday, 15 June 2026. According to Febrie, the ongoing investigation is precisely intended to safeguard the noble goals of the MBG programme from being damaged by alleged irregularities in its governance. “That is why we are processing this, we are opening this up, and we are pushing to ensure the good objectives of this MBG programme can succeed. You, the new BGN leadership, must also guard how it can run according to expectations, this is for the children, the nation’s children,” he said. This statement was made amidst the developing investigation into the alleged MBG corruption case, which has led to five individuals being named suspects in a relatively short period. They are former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, former BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya, former BGN Deputy Head Lodewyk Pusung, Asep Yusuf Somantri who is identified as a private sector party and a close associate of Sony Sonjaya, and PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (YAT) Commissioner Andri Mulyono.
