AGO Rejects Justice Collaborator Status for MBG Scandal Suspect, Urges Full Disclosure
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has rejected the justice collaborator (JC) application submitted by former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sony Sonjaya. Despite this, the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, stated that Sony’s testimony is still valued and urged suspects and witnesses to be forthcoming.
Febrie initially explained the reason for rejecting Sony’s JC application. He said the AGO assessed that Sony did not meet the requirements to be a justice collaborator.
“If I explain the main perpetrator, it means opening up everything, opening up the entire construction of the actions carried out by Sony in the MBG case. But I think it is enough that we state we reject his JC application because the person concerned is the main perpetrator,” Febrie said at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Communication and Digital Affairs, Jakarta, Wednesday (24/6/2026).
Febrie said the AGO still appreciates the information provided by Sony and other parties examined. He stated that all information will certainly be investigated further.
“So, I can explain that what Mr Sony stated in the examination report, we appreciate it. And we hope that each person examined can open up everything, both regarding the actual actions that occurred and the parties involved,” he explained.
“We hope and we greatly appreciate not only Mr Sony, but also the people examined in the MBG case. What happened, the acts of corruption in all MBG management processes currently being carried out, as well as the people involved. And we will certainly investigate further,” he continued.
He said the MBG programme is important to safeguard. He stated that a thorough investigation of this case is crucial for improving MBG governance.
“We also encourage immediate improvements in its governance to make it more transparent and so that all members of the public can see how this process will later be carried out by investigators for its resolution,” he said.
Previously, the AGO had named six suspects. They are:
Former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana
Former Deputy Head of BGN Sony Sonjaya
Former Deputy Head of BGN Lodewyk Pusung
Asep Yusuf Somantri (AYS), a close associate of Sony
Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (PT YAT), the BGN electric motorcycle provider, Andri Mulyono (AM).
