AGO Marathons Review of Three Febrie Cases Transferred by Kortas Tipikor
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has confirmed that investigations into the coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel cases implicating former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah are ongoing. The AGO stated it has been studying the three cases transferred by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) for almost two weeks.
Junior Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas) Rudi Margono said during a press conference in South Jakarta on Friday (24/7/2026) that his team is currently assessing all evidence in the cases. Based on this assessment, a new investigation order (sprindik) was issued regarding alleged money laundering offences (TPPU).
‘We continue to work technically, assessing all available evidence and exhibits. Coincidentally, the evidence we followed up on was at the end of the chain, so no witnesses had been examined yet. But finally, on 20 July 2026, we issued investigation order number 3 concerning alleged money laundering,’ he stated.
Under this new investigation order, Febrie is currently designated as a witness. Rudi confirmed that Febrie was summoned for questioning on Wednesday, 22 July. He urged the public not to misinterpret Febrie’s status as a witness, explaining that the new investigation order requires his examination first, in accordance with Constitutional Court Decision 21/2014.
Kortas Tipikor Polri initially investigated three cases involving coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel, naming Febrie a suspect in all three. After the cases were transferred to the AGO, the AGO issued three new investigation orders but only named Febrie a suspect in the ASABRI case.
The AGO’s latest move was issuing a money laundering investigation order following the discovery of 74 kilogrammes of gold and hundreds of billions of rupiah during a search of Febrie’s residence in Sentul, West Java. The order, numbered Print-03/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026 and dated 20 July 2026, was issued by a special team after receiving the evidence from the police.
Febrie Adriansyah has been officially named a suspect in the alleged corruption and money laundering case related to the management of PT ASABRI funds. He has also been placed on a 20-day overseas travel ban effective from 12 July 2026, following a request from the Metro Jaya Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate.
