AGO Issues New Investigation Orders, Says Febrie's Suspect Status in Police Probe Not Nullified

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has issued investigation orders for three alleged corruption cases implicating a former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes with the initials FA. Head of the AGO’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the first order, numbered 43, concerns alleged corruption and money laundering at PT Krakatau. The second, order number 44, relates to alleged corruption in coal governance at a coal-fired power plant, which is suspected of triggering a blackout. The final order, number 45, pertains to an alleged corruption case at PT Asabri and PT Jiwasraya for the 2020–2025 period. Anang said the issuance of these investigation orders follows the AGO’s takeover of the three cases from the Indonesian National Police. “Since the investigation orders were issued, all pro-justice activities and actions have been transferred to AGO investigators,” he said. He confirmed that during the investigation, the AGO’s special team investigators will continue to collaborate and synergise with police investigators, specifically the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps and the Metro Jaya Regional Police. For oversight, he also confirmed that the Corruption Eradication Commission and the House of Representatives will supervise the investigation process. Regarding the status of two suspects previously named by the police, namely FA, the former junior attorney general, and DR, a private sector individual, he said investigators will first study the case before determining their status. “The suspect status determined by the police is not nullified. The important thing is we receive it first, we study everything,” he said. Previously, on Saturday, the police announced that the handling of three cases had been transferred to the AGO based on an agreement between the two institutions as a form of law enforcement synergy.
