AGO Focuses on Examining 5 Suspects in National Nutrition Agency Corruption Case

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has stated it remains focused on examining five suspects in the alleged corruption case within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, said his team is currently concentrating on examining and developing the case against the suspects. He emphasised that investigators are delving into other evidence, the flow of corrupt funds, and other parties involved in the corruption case. “We are still concentrating on several people we have detained. Both the development of evidence, assets, and whether there are other people involved there,” he said in Jakarta on Monday (15/6). Furthermore, Febrie mentioned that his party has no plans yet to search the homes of BGN leaders to look for related evidence. “I think so far that connection does not exist yet,” he explained. The AGO has named a total of five suspects in the corruption case concerning the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme for the 2025-2026 period. The five are former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana; former BGN Deputy Heads Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung; Sony’s associate, Asep Yusuf Somantri (AYS); and the Commissioner of PT. Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (YAT), Andri Mulyono. In this case, the AGO explained that the MBG programme should have been managed by the Nutrition Service and Fulfilment Unit (SPPG) foundations affiliated with recipient schools. However, in practice, many SPPGs were appointed because they had affiliations with BGN officials. Additionally, many foundations did not actually meet the requirements to become SPPG partners. Furthermore, there was a mark-up in the procurement prices of goods, resulting in losses that did not support the operational implementation of the MBG. This included 21,801 electric motorbike units worth IDR 1.03 trillion, 32,000 pairs of shoes, 31,994 tablet units, and 5,400 75-inch television units.
