AGO Explains Appointment of Jamwas as Acting Jampidsus to Facilitate Febrie Adriansyah Investigation

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has revealed the reason behind the appointment of the Junior Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas), Rudi Margono, as the Acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). The appointment is intended to facilitate both internal and legal investigations into Febrie Adriansyah.

Head of the AGO’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, explained that the supervisory process at Jamwas will run concurrently with the ongoing legal proceedings. Febrie, the former Jampidsus, has been named a suspect in three corruption cases.

“Yes, they will run concurrently. It so happens that the acting Jampidsus also serves as Jamwas. That was one of the considerations, to make things easier,” Anang told reporters at the AGO Main Building in South Jakarta on Monday (13/7/2026).

Anang denied reports suggesting Febrie was abroad performing the umrah pilgrimage. He confirmed Febrie remains in Indonesia and is cooperative throughout the legal process.

“What is clear is that the person concerned is still in Indonesia, has not gone abroad, is cooperative, and is under the investigators’ monitoring. That is all,” he stated.

Regarding the internal examination at Jamwas, Anang said the process still requires time. His office is currently examining a number of pieces of evidence seized by the Police.

“Not yet examined at Jamwas, it was only yesterday. The process takes time,” Anang said. “We have not fully received the evidence, so we are examining it. There is quite a lot of evidence, including gold and other items. We will examine it first. From there, we will sharpen, deepen, and review what the next steps will be.”

A Special Investigative Team to be Formed

Anang also mentioned that a special investigative team will be formed to handle the case involving Febrie, ensuring independence and professionalism in the investigation process. This special team will study all case files and evidence recently received from the Police.

“The point is, we have just received it, and we will study it. Later, the investigators at the Attorney General’s Office will form a special investigative team,” Anang said.

“A special team, because it cannot be handled by regular investigators. We will form a special team of investigators, we will study it, we will see what the case construct is based on the existing investigation reports, and also based on the available evidence, linked to the alleged criminal acts. We will study what this looks like,” he continued.

Anang stressed that the AGO will work transparently by involving external oversight, including the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). This is to ensure the case handling proceeds according to procedure.

“We cannot yet provide an answer on what form it will take. What is clear is that in this matter, we continue to coordinate well with the Police investigators who handled the case previously, and also to guarantee independence and professionalism, we ensure we will be professional,” Anang asserted.

“We will also involve coordination and supervision from the KPK. And also, as mentioned previously, colleagues from Commission III of the House will also oversee the implementation of this case’s investigation process,” he explained.
